Single malt before a show. Not exactly a date because we are both taking a friend. That makes things βeasierβ. Still need a drink, though. I like this bar. It is loud but not like a club. Dare I say that it is kind of classy? The bartenders are classy and know their products without being pretentious. I could walk around the corner and go to my familiar dive (where everyone knows my name) but here I can prepare myself and sit and write.
There is a woman harassing the βcelebrityβ bartender. It is hard for me to tell if he is enjoying it or being polite. Peopleβs body language is difficult to read out in the wild. I would have guessed that he was an introvert but maybe while he is shaking a drink he is a superstar. All cameras are on and we are all social media whores.
Humans are weird af.
I cannot imagine being put on the spot like that. Perhaps I am deflecting. β¨β¨I do not have much to say about this person I am meeting up with. I am not into him, I do not think that he is into me either. That is the appeal. I want nothing and have zero to offer. A match made in a loading screen.
We have nothing in common, either. He admits that he is self-centred. He listens to boring music but he drinks good whisky.β¨β¨Nothing tells me to run which is why I keep going out with him. No spark means I do not need to think much about him.
People are smoking outside. It smells delicious. β¨β¨It is 8pm and they are already drunk and singing. Bloody hell.β¨β¨A few people are laughing. That was unexpectedβ¦ it made me smile. Happy Norwegians = drunk Norwegians.
I love the older women in their polyester dress shirts and slacks. Not crazy about the pixy cuts but I understand how we arrive at them. The group of men are celebrating whatever it is and they are pleased – brohood? It is joyous to watch. β¨β¨Being alone can be a gift, but being in a group is safety. You are looked after and no one looks at you like they are glad they are not sad and lonely like you.
Do beer googles work on yourself?
