Word: Cherished

Definition: To hold dear; to treat with affection, care, or great value.

Original Attempt (excerpt):
β€œTo be held and hugged. Told that everything will be okay and that the pain will stop soon.”

The Gap:
This is a description of comfort, but it is flat β€” it does not capture the preciousness of being cherished. It is physical holding, not emotional treasuring.

Rewrite (embodied):
Cherished is when someone remembers the way you take your tea and makes it for you before you ask. It is the glance across a crowded room where you realise someone sees you β€” really sees you β€” and is glad you exist. To be cherished is not just to be held, but to be kept, protected, and celebrated as irreplaceable.

Rewrite (visceral):
Being cherished is a feeling of being actively loved and uplifted, with your passions and interests embraced, your dreams encouraged, and your welfare a priority to someone who truly values you for who you are. You feel safe, accepted, supported and seen.Β

Expansion:

Question:
When was the last time you felt cherished β€” not just loved, but treasured?
