Word: Abandoned

Definition:

 left behind

Original Attempt (excerpt):
“Sitting alone in the house. It isn’t many square metres, but it feel endless. The emptiness of it all is consuming…”

The Gap:

Tries to sound poetic, but keeps the pain abstract. β€œEndless house” feels borrowed, not lived.

Rewrite (embodied):

It may not be rational, yet it feels like intense panic and usually some flavour of insecurity. You can be scared that people will leave you because you are more needy than useful.

Rewrite (visceral):

Abandoned is the fork still on the table when the chair across from you is empty. It is the voicemail that never comes, the key left in your palm with no door to turn. Abandonment echoes not in silence, but in the memory of footsteps that never return.

Expansion:

Question: Do you ever feel you scare people away with your desire to be close to them?
