THE DIY CODEX

A Manual for Custom-Made Lives, States, Worlds & Desires

(For players who have outgrown β€œlove, money, abs” and want full creative autonomy.)

CHAPTER I β€” THE LAW OF SOVEREIGN CRAFTING

Every human lives inside a psychological operating system that someone else wrote for them:
β€’ family
β€’ school
β€’ culture
β€’ religion
β€’ trauma
β€’ algorithms
β€’ past selves with questionable judgement

The Homebrewer rejects all pre-installed scripts.

The only “rules”: Your assumptions are the physics engine. Your desires are the questline. Your identity is the player class.

Everything else is dΓ©cor.

CHAPTER II β€” THE ORIGIN OF CUSTOM DESIRE

Standard manifestation only addresses:
β€’ money
β€’ love
β€’ appearance

That is NPC-level stuff.

Homebrew desire begins where the template ends:

β€œI want a specific rhythm to my days.”
β€œI want to wake up with curiosity, not dread.”
β€œI want a small life that feels enormous inside.”
β€œI want a studio that smells like turpentine.”
β€œI want a kitchen that feels like a warm spellbook.”
β€œI want a body-state, not a body-shape.”
β€œI want my nervous system to stop auditioning for a horror film.”

The Codex teaches you to name desires that would sound bizarre on Instagram but feel like destiny in your chest.

CHAPTER III β€” THE CUSTOM CLASS SYSTEM

Your Custom Class is the cornerstone of your homebrew world.

You write it using three ingredients:
1. Domain (your essence β€” Knowledge, Ease, Silence, Freedom, Beauty, Influence…)
2. Archetype (your style β€” Witch, Bard, Oracle, Scholar, Hermit, Healer, Nomad…)
3. Vibe (your tone β€” serene, chaotic-neutral, earthy, cosmic, minimalist, decadent…)

Examples:
β€’ Oracle of Quiet Luck
β€’ Bard of Soft Chaos
β€’ Archivist of Comfort
β€’ Solitary Scholar of Sunlit Corners
β€’ Witch of Clean Exits and Warm Mugs
β€’ Nomadic Mystic of Train Stations & Lantern Light

Your reality conforms to the class you play.

CHAPTER IV β€” DOMAINS & SUBCLASS SPELLS

A Domain is your governing principle.
Subclasses are the tiny, strange desires that shape your world’s flavour.

Example:
Domain: Freedom
Subclasses:
β€’ untimed mornings
β€’ long walks without destination
β€’ flexible money
β€’ friends who do not need explanations
β€’ travel without urgency

Domain: Peace
Subclasses:
β€’ quiet rooms
β€’ stable emotions
β€’ soft light
β€’ absence of chaos people
β€’ meals cooked without rushing

Domain: Creativity
Subclasses:
β€’ obsessive focus spells
β€’ materials that appear exactly when needed
β€’ time dilation during inspiration
β€’ messy tables that never become overwhelming

This is where your world gets specific β€” and specificity is the magic.

CHAPTER V β€” REALITY MECHANICS (CUSTOM RULES)

Your world needs rules.
(Not limitations β€” physics.)

Examples of custom mechanics:

Drop Rate of Opportunities:
β€œGood things happen easily and often.”

Social Energy Consumption:
β€œI regenerate quickly after interactions.”

Emotional Weather:
β€œMy inner climate stays warm even when people storm.”

Manifestation Lag:
β€œWhen I shift states, reality updates fast.”

NPC Behavior:
β€œI no longer attract chaos characters.”

Luck Modifier:
β€œI stumble into answers before I form the question.”

Custom rules are how you override inherited programming.

CHAPTER VI β€” MAGICAL ITEMS & ARTIFACTS

Homebrewers craft objects that anchor their identity.

These are not props; they are psychological stabilisers.

Examples:
β€’ The Mug of Morning Serenity
β€’ The Ring of ADHD Focus
β€’ The Journal of Self-Revising Timelines
β€’ The Lamp of Cosy Worlds
β€’ The Key to Unexpected Clarity
β€’ The Blanket of Nervous System Regulation

A thing becomes magical when you assign it meaning.

Humans love talismans. Use your biology.

CHAPTER VII β€” RANDOM ENCOUNTER TABLES

Your world needs surprises β€” but the kind that support your new state.

You design your life’s RNG:

1–5: Serendipity Buff
Someone solves a problem for you without knowing.

6–10: New Connection Spawn
You meet someone aligned with your Domain.

11–14: Identity Upgrade Trigger
A situation calls forth your Future Self.

15–17: Clean Exit
Something misaligned ends with no drama.

18–20: Golden Drop
A gift, resource, or opportunity appears.

If you do not design your encounter table, your nervous system will supply the old one.

CHAPTER VIII β€” FINAL FORMS & EVOLUTION

Your Final Form is not aesthetic β€” it is existential.

Examples:
β€’ β€œI am the version of me who relaxes by default.”
β€’ β€œI am the version who trusts the calm.”
β€’ β€œI am the version who does not chase.”
β€’ β€œI am the version whose life feels handcrafted.”

Final Forms evolve. There is no permanent endgame. There are only expansions.

CHAPTER IX β€” PATCH NOTES (UPDATES TO SELF)

Every season, you update:
β€’ beliefs
β€’ boundaries
β€’ desires
β€’ tolerances
β€’ identity
β€’ assumptions
β€’ mechanics

These are your Patch Notes.

**Version 3.4:
β€’ Removed β€˜people-pleasing’ bug
β€’ Improved calm response time
β€’ Increased abundance drop rate
β€’ Nerfed NPC access to my energy
β€’ Added new spell: β€˜No Reaction Needed’**

Self-revision is the most powerful magic in the Codex.

CHAPTER X β€” THE ABSOLUTE RULE OF HOMEBREW

If it matters to you, it is valid. If you want it, it is manifestable. If it delights you, it is aligned. If it feels strange, it is yours. If it confuses others, perfect.

The Homebrewer lives a life so custom-made it cannot be compared, envied, categorised, or interfered with.

Your world, physics, class, desires, and destiny.
