Everyone wants to belong. No, belonging is not always β€œfitting in”.

Maybe it is a chess club, the lunch room gossip corner, a hateful subreddit or your family that allows you to put down your mask for a while.

When we mistake fitting in for belonging, we ignore that fitting it asks us to become smaller.

Belonging asks us to become ourselves.

The right people will not need you to audition.

They will simply pull up another chair.
