Not because I think he never loved me (okay, I think he had a strong liking towards me. Love might be too strong).

Because the song captures the tragedy of emotional withdrawal. It is not about hatred. It is about someone slowly disconnecting while the other person keeps waiting for them to turn back around.

That has always felt like our marriage (from my perspective)—not explosive all the time, but oh so lonely.
